Blizzard Raging in the US, 2,500 Flights Delayed to Cancellation

 


United States authorities canceled and delayed at least 2,500 flights due to a raging snowstorm Monday (26/12).

Some of the airlines affected were Southwest Airlines LUV with around 1,700 cancellations and Delta Air Lines Inc Dal with more than 250 cancellations.

According to flight tracking site FlightAware, on Sunday (25/12) right at Christmas celebrations, flight disruptions reached 4,500.

One of the ALK.N Alaska Airline flight customers, Kyle Goeke (29) said he would be stuck in Seattle for days.

He was supposed to fly on Monday (26/12), but was postponed until Wednesday (28/12).

Goeke said he departed from Washington DC to Seattle City on Sunday (25/12) night. He had not slept all night and was busy looking for a place to stay in the city.

"Fortunately, I have friends in this city [Seattle] to help me. Many other people are left alone," Goeke said as quoted by Reuters.

Southwest Airline passenger David Sharp also experienced the same thing. He didn't go to St. Louis by plane.

Sharp said he would use the land route from Denver to his destination.

Voice actress, Gray DeLisle, is also a victim of flight cancellations. He then conveyed the complaint on social media.

"Flight 1824 from Nashville to Burbank was canceled and we have not accepted any rebooking! Father of children has missed Christmas now and his suitcase is missing with drugs in it! Customer Line busy. Help!"

Another Twitter user, Alex Gervasi, also poured out his frustration on the bird's symbol platform.

"Brothers, a Southwest Airlines flight from Philly to El Paso was canceled today and the best they could do was get out of Baltimore on Tuesday morning!," Gervasi wrote.

He later said, "There's nothing anyone can do except travel crazy."

In response to multiple complaints, Southwest Airlines said it was "doing our best" to get the network back up after the storm.

The US has been hit by a winter storm since the last few days. The impact of this storm, at least 49 people died in nine states.

In New York a winter storm dumped a meter of snow.
